Andy Holzopfel is a brilliant artist who specializes in portraiture, and whistleblowing. As a former Maryland State employee, he crusaded against governmental waste, and eventually found himself in the scrap pile as well. His self-published booklet "Grandson of a Dog & Pony Show: A new Beginning" highlights many of the injustices perpertrated by our State.
Otherwise he is veteran of the "Towson Artists Group." His beautifully framed oil paintings show years of practice at work.
The bar was made of old shuffleboard tables. Behind the bar was a full length mural painted by local artist Jim Joyner, whom was often in the company of his little pet monkey.
On the walls were displayed artwork created by local artists who often spent countless hours sitting around drinking, and boring young men and women with their plans for creating their next masterpiece.
At night usually on weekends, live music filled the bar. George Thorogood and his Delaware Destroyers started appearing here and returned many times to growing fame and more money. The Downstairs Band was usually on Sunday and was very popuplar. There were many other whose names have been lost in the fog of alcohol and drug abuse, along with my hair, teeth, and other popular bodily funcions.
This was a fascinating show that featured a great young artist, Artpusha. The artwork showed great versatility and energy. Be on the look out for more of his work in the future, and you can support his movement by visiting his website, artpusha.tumblr.com
